Jasper Newton "Jack Daniel" was born in 1850, the youngest of 10 brothers and sisters. At the age of 7, the young man began working for Dan Cole, a Lutheran minister who owned a whiskey distillery. Over the next few years, Jack learned everything he could about whiskey. In September 1863, after much pressure from his family and the Christian community, Dan Cole sold the distillery to Jack Daniel, when he was only 13 years old. Jack Daniel's, the world's best-selling whiskey, was launched in 1866. It is produced in the first registered distillery in the United States, in a small town called Lynchburg, Tennessee. Jack Daniel's is made from corn, barley, rye and iron-free water from a limestone cave that maintains a constant temperature throughout the year. The distillate is filtered through maple charcoal in tanks that are three meters high, a process that takes about ten days, during which the whiskey softens and acquires a unique aroma and flavor. No one knows what the number seven means. We're sure Jack had a good reason... Jack Daniel's Single Barrel is bottled from a single barrel, not from a mixture of barrels as is customary, and contains 45% alcohol.
